Hydrogen and clean energy
Due to its versatility, hydrogen is proving to be a trailblazer for carbon neutrality in order to combat climate change and achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement (2015). Hydrogen will play a central role in the new energy system where surplus renewable energy can be used to produce and store this energy carrier. Hydrogen is a clean and safe energy carrier that produces no emissions when used in a fuel cell, as only water vapour is produced from the air through recombination with oxygen. Intensive work on the new hydrogen infrastructure is being carried out worldwide and the development of capacities for the production of green hydrogen, which is generated from renewable energies, is constantly increasing.
